Likes Lions - “Futures”

I normally don’t click on those advertisements for other bands, but I managed to find Likes Lions through the Last.fm page for Tellison. It turned out to be a really good thing because this 5-piece from Sheffield is actually really good. Adorably, the band’s name was supposedly conceived when they realized that they all like lions even though they all prefer tigers. Their EP is for free on their Bandcamp page now. You might as well. It doesn’t hurt that it’s actually pretty good. Or that there’s a cat on the EP’s cover.

So this is the remix of Alex Day’s “Forever Yours” that I made [his original is here]. I’m going to release it on iTunes this weekend to coincide with the Project 4 Awesome and Forever Day. The remix will cost 99 cents and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to VH1’s Save The Music (my charity of choice for the last few P4As). So, I do hope you enjoy it, and I do hope you’ll purchase it this weekend so we can all help put some new instruments and music software into our schools. =)

The entire remix was reprogrammed in Logic using only the bundled instruments. No loops or samples (outside of the multitracks from Alex’s original recording, of course) were used. In fact, I spent more time producing this remix than Alex did writing and recording his original version. Not sure who that speaks more highly of. LOL

Love it! I’ll definitely be buying it this weekend :)

So freaking good!

The Black Keys - “Sister”

The Black Keys are in a groove.

These Akron guys (who happen to be high school classmates with my high school Spanish teacher) continue to bring the blues-rock jams on El Camino, their second album with producer Danger Mouse. Every song on this album will have you busting out the throwback dance moves, like this guy did for “Lonely Boy.”
